Serena Porter
Assistant Principal (SENCO)
I have had the privilege of working with young people with additional needs throughout my 17-year career. My journey began in 2007 delivering music sessions to learners with developmental impairments. This experience sparked my passion for education and inspired me to pursue a career as a special education needs (SEN) teacher.
I spent over a decade working at The Vine in Leeds, supporting young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities to develop essential life skills and independence. This role deepened my understanding of SEN and honed my skills as a dedicated educator.
Following my time at The Vine, I worked in the private sector, serving as an SEN Teacher and eventually Head of School for Children Looked After. My experience with organizations in the private children’s homes sector exposed me to a wide range of challenges faced by vulnerable young people, including county lined girls and sexually exploited males.
Throughout my career, I have consistently focused on identifying the unique needs of students and providing exceptional educational opportunities. By tailoring my approach to each individual, I have helped countless young people achieve their full potential and transition successfully into adulthood.
Ron Crichton
Assistant Principal (Behaviour and Welfare)

He was promoted to Care Team Leader when the new SEMH schools in Leeds opened in April 2019. As Care Team leader Ron supported the pastoral needs of the students transitioning to the new school setting.
Ron left his previous role as Care Team Leader and took up a role at Forest Moor School as therapeutic lead in February 2021. After the Academy Conversion in July 2021 Ron continued to support students as therapeutic lead until April when he took up post as Assistant Principal.
Ron is passionate about Trauma Informed Practice and was involved in supporting his previous school in gaining the Trauma Informed Schools award. This is something that he intends to Achieve at Forest Moor.
